New resource: Fishing in Scotland

Up-stream

A Lesson Guide has been created to help children learn about the fishing industry in Scotland. The resource 'Fishing in Scotland' has been created by Scotland's Moving Image Archive in collaboration with teacher Claire Docherty and is aimed at First and Second Levels (Primary).

Fishing in Scotland includes clips from films made in the 1930s to 1960. The films show how fish was caught, processed and sold at a time when the fishing industry was in decline but still vital to coastal economies and cultures.

There are also accompanying PDFs that include a Learning Journey for teachers and activity sheets for learners.

You can view the Lesson Guide here.
